… builds on the premise of two people, could be friends or people in a relationship, that knew each other in their teens/early twenties but lost contact.
Could be only one of them describing their lives, or both of them. But I'm looking for something that shows that the other person has never quite left the other person's life and the impact someone else can have oneself.
Maybe someone out there knows such a book. I'd be very grateful for your suggestions. 🙂

Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren (contemporary romance with everything you described)
the colorless tsukuru tazaki by haruki murakami is about a group of five friends that were as close as the fingers of a hand, but they had a falling out and it left tsukuru drifting aimlessly after the loss. a really sad, beautiful book.
on the brighter side, I loved my friends by fredrik backman. it’s another story of extremely close friends that drifted apart over time but their friendship had ripples throughout the country and into the future.
I apologize that these are not exact fits with two people, but I feel that they fit the vibe.
