I just finished Anathem and I’m blown away. He is an amazing writer! I have not read all his books and I’m trying to decide which to read next. I’ve read The Baroque Cycle and Reamde two or three times each. So they are my favorites.
What’s yours?

Snowcrash. I’ll never forget that ninja sword.
Anathem is my favorite of Stephenson’s novels, but it unseated Cryptonomicon, which was my first favorite. It may not be quite as impactful, since one plot line is based in then-current-but-now-outdated tech, but I think it’s still a great story.
I just reread Cryptonomicon, and I loved it again. I really like it. But I noticed a lot of techno/libertarian anti-govt stuff that went over my head previously. Not the blatant “let’s make a refuge from the world’s governments stuff,” that is the heart of the book, and I’m comfortable with it. More the casual dsstrust and dismissal of the organizations keeping the majority of people safe in their homes.
I just read Seveneves and I kind of hated it. The vision of humanity is gross, even if accurate, and I had to stop reading when we got to the eugenics/human biodiversity part. That was straight up Nazi. It frankly made me reevaluate him as an author.
Cryptonomicon is the only one I re-read every few years. Seven Eves is next on my list to re-read.
Diamond Age – (Snow Crash 2nd!)
Cryptonomicon – audiobook
Oh geez that’s a tough one. I want to say *Snow Crash* and I also want to say *Cryptonomicon*, but what I am actually going to say is *Seveneves*.
