Set a small page count or reading timer each day. Even if it’s 5 pages, even if it’s 5 minutes, slowly started the habit will help keep up the momentum.

Well, I’m not a guy … *but* … If I don’t like a book or am struggling to finish it, I just shelve it. I don’t try to make myself. I’m just more choosy about what I read. If I’m not REALLY compelled at the end of the kindle sample I download, I put it on a “maybe later” list.
In the past month I’ve probably started … 4 books that I haven’t finished – all of them were free on Kindle Unlimited so I hadn’t wasted money. Though I do intend to go back to a few of them at some point. I don’t think there’s really any point in pushing yourself to finish something you’re not interested in, but maybe it’s an indication that you need to try different types of books so you don’t have the problem of not wanting to complete it in the first place?
However … it might help me to make a suggestion if I knew what’s happening for you while reading that you don’t want to finish it. Is there too much of one thing – like, dialogue, or long descriptions of nature, or something like that that causes you trouble? For me, I absolutely cannot read descriptions of battles or fights – I just *cannot* follow it in my head (I fail to visualize descriptions). So I skim those parts quickly to just try to glean the main idea or any actual plot points; mostly, there aren’t any lol.
Hope this helps.

If it sucks, don’t be afraid to bail. OTOH, a book is a marathon not a sprint. No dopamine rush like other things. That’s kind of the point

If it’s a boring book, why is it a problem not to finish it? I just move onto the next book.
