I recently read the Vegetarian by Han Kang and it left quite an impact on me. The main character is an example of how one can be driven mad by a lifetime of being deprived of choice. And so I’m going in a bit of a deep dive on the subject of desire and women’s roles; societal expectations.
And so I’m looking for non fiction, essays or books, any type of document that discusses women’s history, gender roles, the importance of desire and the impact of being robbed of choice.

I am currently reading *Separation of Church and Hate* by John Fugelsand. His nonfiction book discusses women, divorce, abortion, the LGBTQ+ community and how the Bible has been skewed to control women and stigmatize people for power. Easy read – heavy topics delivered in a light way.
Recently read and highly recommend Angela Saini’s book, *The Patriarchs”. It is the origin story of inequality and the death of the matriarchy. (The Bible had a big impact on that, thanks to Paul, a sexist homophobe)
