So I need some assistance picking out a few books for my husband. He doesn't read much and has previously only been interested in comic books, but he's been wanting to improve his reading skills and try some novels. I am a huge reader myself, but I lean more towards fantasy/sci-fi and he doesn't care for those kinds of books. He's currently reading a murder mystery and I suspect he'd like some Tom Clancy or Jack Carr type books, but I know those series can be very long and I don't want him to feel overwhelmed by a 10 book series, lol.
Any recommendations for realistic fiction would be appreciated, and maybe some that are shorter (around 300-400 pages) as well as some longer books would be helpful!

If he likes comics try The Violent Century by Lavie Tidhar, its a super hero book, set before during and after the 2nd ww just not the hero’s we know although they are pretty awesome
Anthrax island by DL Marshall
This is longer but I’d suggest The Count of Monte Cristo
Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon is the best novel about comic books!
