My taste in novels tends to skew toward very serious and heavy topics, which can get emotionally exhausting at times. I’ve learned that it’s helpful to keep a list of cozy, heartwarming reads in my TBR to use as palate cleansers when my main rotation becomes a little dark for me. What are your favorite books that are light/cozy/heartwarming/etc.? Books that make you feel safer and a little better about the world.

Fredrik Backman’s books always make me feel a little warmer towards humans and humanity.
Cómplices by Benito Taibo seems like a beautiful and tender book to me 😊
When You Look Like Your Passport Photo It’s Time To go Home by Erma Bombeck did this for me. I’d give you a romantasy rec to but I’m not sure if that’s up your alley or not.
Many Japanese novels are very cozy. Within the Japanese literary community, a cat on the cover of the book nearly always indicates that the novel will be a cozy one. The novel itself may not have cats in it but if it’s chill, cozy, and a happy little slice of life then it will have a cat on the cover.
If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://share.google/ID8EUnwDjqkoB35LB) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
