I’ve read pretty lengthy books recently and I’m looking for shorter/more brisk books around 350 pages or lower.
Some of my favourite “short” books in no particular order are:
-
City of Thieves by David Benioff
-
The Emperor’s Souls by Brandon Sanderson
-
The Deal of a Lifetime and Other Stories by Fredrick Backman
-
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
-
South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami
-
The Samurai’s Garden by Gail Tsukiyama
-
This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz
-
Looking for Alaska by John Green
-
Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
-
Later by Stephen King
-
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
-
Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel

The boys from Brazil — Ira Levin
A Wizard of Earthsea is really good.
Whale Fall ( Elizabeth O’Connor)
Our Wives under the sea ( I didn’t enjoy it much but a lot of readers loved it)
Comfort me with apples
Graveyard Shift by M.L. Rio – mystery/horror novella. A quick but satisfying read.
The Deep by River Solomon -this one was so unique and interesting, I don’t even know quite how to describe it. It’s also based on a song
Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher – dark fairytale vibes. A short, standalone fantasy which I feel like we need so much more of!
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde – one of my favorite classics
The Berry Pickers by Amanda Berry – I loved this book so much. She does such an amazing job with the characters.
Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano – It will make you cry
Older fiction can often be much shorter while still packing quite a punch. Try looking at popular books from around the 1920s – 1960s
