Could you please recommend me a novel, that feels like it's diving deep into your soul or like it's cultivating you and giving you new perspectives and discussing aspects in psychology or sociology or with cultural facts… I just don't want a normal fiction that gives you the satisfaction while reading it but when you're done with it, it'll be just a story you read and you forget about it

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy was so good that every book I’ve read since has felt like “go dog go”
Les Misérables was one that did it for me. It’s a hefty read, and sometimes Hugo can spend a lot of time describing, say, the terrain and layout of the land as it influenced the outcome of the battle of Waterloo, for example, that feel a bit tedious and unnecessary.
But the story of every character is often gut wrenching. It delves into larger aspects of society and how we fail, and also into seemingly minute and yet eternal aspects of humans as individuals. I aways loved this read. It has always stayed with me.
Just a note to maybe do a little bit of research on differences in translation before choosing a version to read, if you read in English. Hugo was French, and a poet, and some translations do better than others at capturing the lyrical aspect of his language.
