I was in 6th grade, in history class, when I became interested in the subject.
My teacher recommended Troia to me, I think the author was Carlos Moreno, something like that.

    1. One good idea is to go straight to the source – there’s a 2018 translation of The Odyssey by Emily Wilson which is so easy to read and informative. Highly recommend.

If you want secondary sources, Stephen Frye’s work! “Mythos” is the absolute best, IMO. The way he writes is storytelling. I’ve been interested in Greek mythology forever, but I always feel dumb because I can’t remember every detail, which god or goddess did what, etc.

The way he writes about it, those characters come to life. It’s “non-fiction”, unlike books like Circe and Silence of the Girls (which are also amazing and you should read them). He’s just telling you what Homer wrote, and also has done the research on hundreds of other sources. I think the audiobook particularly helped me learn – he does voices, it made it more engaging for me. It’s included with Spotify premium.

I also do recommend Circe and Silence of the Girls, a retelling of the Odyssey and the Iliad respectively. The story format really helps to remember things.
