Hello, I don't read a lot but trying to get back into it. The most recent two books that I've really liked have been murder mystery, partly because the main character has been like sort of this cool like cowboy type of guy, and partly because the plot is compelling and mysterious enough to keep going.
Plum Island (Nelson Demille) awesome
A man named doll (Jonathan Ames) also great
I enjoyed them both and I want to read another book where the guy is a cool guy that is like a wisecracking cool cowboy protagonist. Doesn’t have to be a murder mystery
Any ideas? Thank you

Anything by Raymond Chandler. The original wisecracking detective.
>He looked about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food.
>I needed a drink, I needed a lot of life insurance, I needed a vacation, I needed a home in the country. What I had was a coat, a hat and a gun. I put them on and went out of the room.
>Neither of the two people in the room paid any attention to the way I came in, although only one of them was dead.
I just read lonesome dove for the first time and it instantly vaulted to my top 5. Gus is in the running for my favorite literary character (and just what you described). Also, Bonus* there’s an amazing adaptation you can watch afterwards.
