I feel like most of the time when people recommend me a “funny” book it turns out to be yet another variation of the same archetype (authors occasionally trying to sound intellectual/witty while talking about their own depression/inadequacies in some sort of failed David Sedaris impression). I mean, the last books I can remember that truly made me laugh out were either Joshua Cohen’s The Netayahus or Norm Macdonald’s autobiography, and those were years ago. I would love it if any of you have any recommendations where the comedy is the main priority.

If any of you want some context of my taste, my favorite author is Pynchon. I’ve enjoyed some of the funny classics such as the works of Terry Pratchett, A Confederacy of Dunces, Catch-22, etc. In terms of comedy movies I do love the Coen Brothers. I definitely am enthusiastic when venturing outside my comfort zone though!

A recommendation that is a little less well known is always appreciated if possible.

    Thank you in advance!
