Hey, I have an upcoming holiday by the sea and I wanted to get into reading but for the life of me I cannot find a book that fits my style. What I am looking for primarly is a short book. I just do not have the capacity for 600 pages. I am trying to find something small with short stories, that I can pull out anytime, read a chapter or two and be done with it. If I have to think about previous chapters, names of character, ext. I will simply loose interest. I dont know why I have this problem with books but thats why I read comics most of my life, beacuse the art keeps me entertained.
Maybe books are just not for me, but I dont want to give up. I really like Japanese culture and their history, so I would even make exception and read some good poetry, otherwise I dont like poetry. I dont really want to read anything romantic, other than that I dont mind anything if it is really good. English is not my first language but I think I am okay at reading. If someone is able to help my book disease I will be really grateful.

Might be good to start with graphic novels/manga. Not everything has a library full of volumes like naruto/one piece/dragonball. Tekkon Kinkreet comes to mind. Or Junji Ito horror collections.
Otherwise there is an endless supply of vintage scifi short story collections. Most of them with multiple authors, so if you find a short story you really like, you can look into standalone novels or collections from the same author to ease into longer books.
A few personal favorites of mine that are short and not very complex would be Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha and Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet.
Hope this helps.
