One of my favorite book tropes in contemporary “lit fic” is when a cast of characters are all brought together for a certain reason and things just get out of hand in surprising and comedic ways.
I’m looking for a memoir to this extent that’s very Orange is the New Black reminiscent – a wacky cast of characters, including the author obviously, are all put in some situation where they have to be around each other. They have some kind of specific goal or something they’re trying to do, but along the way, there’s a lot of hurdles, unexpected obstacles and drama between characters.
I’m not looking for anything super serious – the TV show Yellowjackets also kind of fits this description, but I’m looking for a memoir that’s much more lighthearted. More along the lines of Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson, Anxious People by Fredrick Backman or Last Summer at the Golden Hotel by Elyssa Friedland. Except, nonfiction.
Anyone have any suggestions?
