I saw a screenshot on the Tumblr subreddit that was just this:
The hero shows up at thevillain's doorstep one night. They're shivering, bleeding. scared.
There's also a slightly dazed look in their eyes-they were drugged.
They look like they were assaulted.
Looking up at the vilain, swaying slightly as they're close to passingout, they mumble "… didn't know where else to go…" then collapse into the villain's arms
does anyone have any books like this, preferably without explicit sex scenes?
science fiction, fantasy, super hero, just not regular fiction or pure romance please

is similar to that prompt- it’s technically the second book in the series, but you can start with it. Mind controlling bugs have taken over every superhero in earth and the main character rescues one superhero, detoxed her from the mind controlling bugs and then saves the world.
