The title. I really enjoy Emily Henry, Ashley Herring Blake, Helen Hoang, Courtney Summer, Abby Jimenez, etc but have recently started thinking it might be nice to have similar stories with characters that are older and average looking. Is romance only for the young and hot?

T. Kingfisher writes books that are great for this! Swordheart and Hemlock and Silver are both good.
Cordelia’s Honor is a sci-fi/action/romance about characters that are not young and hot
Spell And High Water is a sci-fi/mystery/romance about characters that are not young and hot
Komarr/Civil Champaign is a sci-fi/romance about characters that are not young and hot
T Kingfisher’s romance novels! People in their 30s/40s, sometimes older. Some of the characters are hotties but some are average folks. Clocktaur War, Saint of Steel, Swordheart. Fun fantasy adventures with banter heavy romances

There’s a very cute mystery/romance from the 1990s called Aunt Dimity and the Duke that features a protagonist who’s I think around 40 and a programmer/avid gardener who has her life turned upside down as the book starts and journeys to englqnd with essentially no plan… will she find the garden of her dreams and possibly also love?
