Pre-apocalyptic?

I’m looking for something that’s pre-apocalyptic if that’s a word. Something that takes place before the actual end of the world and shows the struggles of coming to terms with it. Like existential dread awaiting the end. Like we know a meteor, comet, plague, food shortage, natural disaster, or something is coming in 6 months so how do we try to come to terms. Who do we pick to survive/live on?

Horror, fantasy, sci fi, any genre will do. I just want to feel the dread of knowing the end of the world is coming.

I’ve read The Stand and really enjoyed it just wanting more of a focus on the before.
