Completely new to books. Only ones Ive read in recent times were the bible and meditations by aurelius (love it). More of a film guy. Early 20 male. Maybe you could suggest me books based on some of my favorite movies: Magnolia, Arrival, Requiem For A Dream, Shining, Substance, Handmaiden. Would appreciate some suggestions! 🙏

‘Let the Great World Spin’ by Colum McCann and ‘The Hours’ by Michael Cunningham for Magnolia
‘Never Let me Go’ by Kazuo Ishiguro
‘The Haunting of Hill House’ by Shirley Jackson
‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt
Maybe you should get going on other Stephen King books. There is a reason that the horror genre belongs to him. For something a little different, I’m not a horror person myself, but I’ve heard high praises for a book called “The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman”
Arrival, Requiem for a Dream, and The Shining are actually book adaptation so you could start there.
I would go with Ted Chiang’s Story of your Life and others. I’ts a collections of novellas including the inspiration for Arrival.
Why not just read the books those movies were made from?

Read ‘the bonfire of vanities’ – to me it was like watching a movie
I love all those movies, Magnolia being my favourite of all time.
I’ve also just been getting into reading this past year and so far Stoner has been my favourite book I’ve ever read. I think it has similarish themes to Magnolia.
Also I think you will enjoy So Long See You Tomorrow.
