hello! i am 19 years old female and ive realised everything i do to unwind is STRESSFUL!

bad day? okay lets check my options…

-video essays about philosophy and psychology
    -south park
    -psychology and spiritual books
-reddit thats all psychology and r/stopdrinking

…ITS BAD. OKAY. I NEED AN ESCAPE.

im dyslexic and id rather gauge my eyes out than read classics (actually listened to an audiobook of jane eyre for school and i actually kind of liked it and it was my awakening moment… i need fiction.)

fiction i remember reading as a teen (some spoilers):

"The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri" helped get through my shitty day so i can read a book how someone gets through their shitty days.. the part where mustafa wrote his sons death cause and it being his last record still haunts me.

"Yolk by Mary H.K. Choi" genuinely loved falling into someones elses life and i went to bed inconsolably sobbing and felt bleak for a whole week after reading it. that book changed my path in life idk how but it did. relatable funny and heartbreaking (read when 15 so keep that in mind)

"Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz" read as a 15 year old was an angsty kid lost in my gender, sexuality and place in society (thanks covid) usually hate romance based books, but this one was just like… different. it wasnt from shy crush to sexy steamy sex.. it felt raw and genuinely like teen romance it was like yeah theres romantic feelings but even eithout the romantic feelings they wouldve probably been best friends either way. yknow?

this is a long post im sorry and thank you if you got this far.

    i like:
comedy, tears, relatebility, trial and error, books set in the current era and also written after 1990 😭

    i dislike:
hardcore science fiction yknow aliens and shit, main plot romance written by people that have never had a normal friendship with the opposite gender, war centered books (politically driven books)

id appriciate ANY recommendations, again thank you for reading this looonnnggg post, HAVE A GOOD DAY 🤎

You might like Taylor Jenkins Reid as an author? We read *Atmosphere* with my book club and most of us admitted to crying, and she’s got a few to choose from
