I'm obviously aware of Bill Bryson, Stephen Hawking and Harari but what else would you recommend that I wouldn't immediately find on the top Google search result? Ideally released within the last 15 years tops.

**The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks** combines history and medical science.
**A Fever in the Heartland** is about the prevalence of the KKK in Indiana, in addition to state and local corruption, focusing on in the 20’s.
**The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer**
The Great Influenza is about the “Spanish” Flu pandemic, but also includes history/social history of that period of American history
**The Barn**(Wright Thompson) is about the people and places where the Emmett Till murder took place. He those who committed it, covered it up and those who suffered consequences of it, as well as the history of the land and location where the murder occurred. Some people think the book goes off on too many tangents, but I think this is part of what makes the books so great. Also a great audiobook.
