Hello!
I read novels to escape into fiction since the real world is kind of a mess right now.
I picked up and read Wildcards vol. 1, and… I don't know if I want to read any more volumes. I will admit to being more sensitive than most, but damn! The "Puppetmaster" chapter was too much for me. Here's a more tame sample:
Triggers: Sodomitic rape, necrophilia. You're definitely gonna read it now, aren't you, you dirty bird?
The boy could have told him, but the boy was dead. […] The power was in the yod, the rasa, the sperm. Incredible power, more than he knew how to control yet. Enough to bring the dead back to life. He unfastened the dead boy’s belt, unzipped the bell-bottomed jeans, and pulled them off. The boy had crapped and pissed in them when he died, and the smell made Fortunato wince. He threw the jeans in a corner and rolled the dead boy onto his stomach. I can’t do this, Fortunato thought. But he was already hard, and the tears rolled down his face as he knelt between the dead boy’s legs. He came almost immediately.
And that's nothing compared to what happens in a later chapter!
I care about some of the characters (Tachyon), and the writing is solid, but jeez: Can anyone let me know if the sexual violence lets up? Can I just skip all the S.L. Leigh ("Puppetmaster") chapters (It was his chapter that really crossed my line) and still get the narrative?
Thanks in advance!
