I am about to have my first baby in December and am looking to come up with a list of books I might want to pick up during those long nursing sessions.
I tend to like dark, mysterious, and end of the world books, especially ones that are deep, thought provoking, and beautifully written. However, I think for this phase of my life I probably shouldn’t read anything too dark, traumatic or sad. I tend to have a hard time getting into light hearted books, but I think I’d really enjoy something deep and uplifting.
Some books that have been on my short list for awhile in case it’s helpful (not necessarily saying I want to read these specifically during postpartum):
- One hundred years of solitude
- Great alone
- East of Eden
- On earth were briefly gorgeous
Please help!

Realist here: get something with easy to follow plot and not too literary. You’re about to have a level of tired you’ve never known. Maybe memoir or audiobook is the way to go.
