Hi everyone,
I’m on the hunt for books that feel like a warm hug—something relaxed, emotionally soothing, and happy-contemporary (nothing too heavy or classic-heavy, because I just couldn’t get into those).
Here’s a bit of my reading vibe:
• I recently read A Man Called Ove and absolutely loved it.
• I want something I can pick up, put my brain at rest, and just enjoy.
• Prefer contemporary fiction (or at least modern in feel) with emotional regulation—characters you root for, gentle arcs, maybe a little humour or light melancholy.
• Not looking for the “difficult classic that everyone says is great but I couldn’t get through” kind of book—so if it leans too dense or very heavy thematically, it might not be a fit.
• Bonus if it has a nice cosy setting, uplifting humanity, or kind-hearted characters.
So: What books would you suggest that match this mood? Either one you’ve loved, or one you think I should check out. I’m open to lesser-known gems as well as popular ones.
Thanks in advance—looking forward to your recs! 😊

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is a good option.
Just finished “Midnight at the blackbird cafe” its a cozy small town vibes book with themes of family and a little magic realism, very Gilmore Girl feel. Also read “Days at morisaki bookshop” recently, very easy day read. Both just mental asmr.
Have you read *Anxious People*? It’s also by Fedrik Backman and I think it’s similar to what you’re looking for. Also if you haven’t already, check out *Remarkably Bright Creatures* by Shelby Van Pelt.
