I didn’t love Mistborn. Should I read the Stormlight Archives?
I finished all three original Mistborn trilogy books. The characters failed to grab me, nor was the world particularly interesting. The magic system irked me as too restrictive.
I will say that storm light expands the universe greatly, so what you view as a restrictive magic system, is only one small part of the wider and greater magic system that you begin to discover in storm light. The main characters are also very different, and there are far more characters you get the perspective from.
Downsides though, if you thought well of ascension was a slog to get through, good luck getting through the way of kings, its a slow burner. I think all 4 books so far could have done with being slightly shorter. Also if your big on the magic system side of things, while stormlight has a wider and more complex system, you don’t understand it all from the start like you do in mistborn, and uncover it slowly with the characters.
Because or the massive time commitment of stormlight, if you’re hesitant, I’d say try another cosmere book first. Warbreakers good, but arguably weaker than mistborn, and is only a single book. Plus if you do go on to stormlight, you’ll understand a few subtle references. Elantris is a fun single book too but is probably sandersons weakest as its his early stuff. Alternatively, mistborn era 2, the wax and Wayne series is a big shake up in the mistborn universe. The magic system is far more complicated as the powers of the first series become intertwined. It is a more light hearted less serious vibe though, that goes for more comedy and action, with some serious parts. It does also open your eyes to the wider scale of the cosmere

Hard to say.
