Hello, I'm trying to diversify my reading and want some books by native Americans to read, I'm a big fan of fantasy, my favorite authors are Susanna Clark, Nk jemisin, and china mieville if that helps!

Not fantasy (seconding someone’s recommendation of Black Sun for that) but I still recommend *The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian* by Sherman Alexie. It’s a YA coming of age novel about a young boy in an Native American reservation who realizes he has to make some tough decisions to get a better education so he can give himself a chance out of poverty. It sounds depressing as hell (and for sure there are some sad parts) but there’s also a lot of humor and love in it.

It’s one of those books that I’m like, “I’ll read chapter or two before starting dinner” and next thing I know the book is done and I realize I finished the whole thing in one sitting, and I’m hungry because I missed dinner.

When Snake Fell to Earth by Darcie Little Badger

To Shape a Dragon’s Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose

This Town Sleeps by Denis Staples

The only Good Indian by Stephen Graham Jones

      Bad Cree by Jessica Jones

      Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq

      White Horse by Erika Wurth

Night of the Living Rez by Morgan Tatly

    3. If you want some nonfiction, I’d suggest anything by Robin Wall Kimmerer. She writes a lot about human connection with nature.
