Hi there! I'm looking to get back into reading, and get off my phone haha. I love sci-fi books and dystopian novels and am looking for recommendations! Some of my favourite books are The Aurora cycle and Illuminae files by amie kaufman and jay kristoff, the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I'm just struggling to find books that just draw me into the action the way those books did! If anybody has sci-fi space-y kind of books, I'd love to know some more! Bonus points for badass female protagonists and queer rep!

The Expanse book series by James S. A. Corey
Foundation series by Isaac Asimov
Wool series by Hugh Howe
Neuromancer by William Gibson
Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu
Hugh Howey “Wool” main character is a badass woman. It’s the first book of the Silo series
It is my 1st recommendation for anyone wanting dystopian with small amounts of sci-fi.
Three body is a great one too, but is sci-do heavy, but enormously dystopian, as in universe ending. It’s a long series. – edit – main character is a woman as welk, she’s great but is more of an observer/victim than a badass.
Check out H.G. Wells, old but gold. “The first men in the moon” I liked that to mention one.
Cascade Failure by LM Sagas
A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge
Against A Dark Background by Iain M Banks
I love The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, particularly the audiobooks narrated by Kevin R. Free. There are currently 6 novellas and one novel and some short stories, if you like the universe. The main character is asexual and there’s an ensemble of great supporting characters including badass women.
