Hey guys, I'm putting together a book bundle for my nephew and niece (one almost 6, the other 4). I want to cover all of those quintessential books that we all read as kids and loved so much so they can enjoy them too. does anyone have any books that stood out to them? bonus points if they have good themes and subjects that'll be a tiny bit educational but also fun and memorable. I'm such a bookworm I'd love for them to get into reading young! give me allll the nostalgia

My girls are that age. They like The Lorax and Magic Treehouse. Narnia is one we want to try next

Robert Munsch. They’re all good, but I’m ride or die for The Paper Bag Princess

Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, The Enchanted Forest Chronicles

    3. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – I think it’s good for those ages and the pages have so much to find. They are old enough to really look and get the whole story.

Also for those ages I really like Berenstain Bears (the old ones, I think the new ones aren’t as charming and maybe problematic if you don’t want religion popping up kind of randomly). The colors are so vibrant, the stories are still pretty relevant, and I think the kids really respond to that length at that age. I still bring up “Too Much Birthday” when my kids are overwhelmed even when it’s a good thing.

Also at this age, our kids really like DogMan style books. They are easy gateway books because each panel is maybe one or two short sentences. It’s not my personal favorite since I don’t have any nostalgia for it but I see kids reading graphic novels all the time and this is a good way to start for 4 and 6.
