My son is almost 10 and is interested in reading for fun (finally!). I’m a huge fantasy nerd, high and low, and in the past few months have fallen in love with LitRPG. I read literally anything I could get my hands on when I was young. I don’t want to throw him into Lord of the Rings or Wheel of Time off the bat, but would like to get him invested in a series. My daughter is a year older but she’s way behind in Reading, so we’ve just started reading Harry Potter as a family before bed. I’m taking him to a local bookstore this weekend to pick out a couple books, I’d like to grab the first in a series that is already complete. Any suggestions would be very appreciated, and if you could give me a quick synopsis of the series (sell me it) that’d be super helpful as well.

Redwall is a great series
It’s a standalone, but I’ll also recommend The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, because it’s such a great book to read at that age.
