I love My Brilliant Friend and the Neapolitan novels and I’m looking for books that are thematically, spiritually, or even slightly similar.
Some books I’ve read that I liked and reminded me of Neapolitan, for various reasons
-Ferrante’s other work (duh)
-Sula – Toni Morrison
-The Book of Goose – Yiyun Li (scarily similar)
-Educated – Tara Westover
-The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore – Kim Fu
-Trust Exercise – Susan Choi
-Cat’s Eye – Margaret Atwood
-Punished – Ann-Helen Laestadius
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions! I’m particularly interested in the focus on complex female friendship and/or how childhood shapes us, but open for any books that feel similar to the Neapolitan series! Bonus points if there are some queer undertones!
