Hey everyone, I’m trying to build a reading habit and really want to see what the whole experience feels like. I’d love some book recommendations to get started, something that’s easy to get into and keeps me hooked. I’m especially interested in self-improvement and fiction, but I’m open to any short or engaging reads that can help me fall in love with reading. Would really appreciate your suggestions!

I would say Anne of green gables, has such lovely scenes and I’ve seen non readers enjoy it very much
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is short but powerful.
It is easier to get into reading by starting something you’re already like, ask yourself what kind of movie, or video games you deeply into at the moment, and google books in that similar veins. Or if you are into certain topics, search nonfiction book about that.
For me, at the time I was trying to get into reading, I was into those silly horror movies from the 80s, and I craved something similar but amped up the gore and naughtiness. So I started with Richard Laymon.
Now, I am out of the phase, it hard to get into Richard Laymon because to be honest they are pretty trashy. But back then, 500 page just flew by
If you just want one recommendation, I would say Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, simply because the movie adaptation is going to release early next year, and everyone believe it’s going to be BIG. Go watch the trailer if you want some push to read the novel, but I warn you they revealed a lot in the trailer especially in the last 20 seconds or so
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
