I’m going through all of Stephen King’s work in publication order. I finished the Dark Tower last year and now I’m going back through and filling in the gaps I’d missed over the last 20 years of reading him.
Anyways I need a few detours just to spice things up a bit. Usually on my detours I read autobiographies, Molly Shannon and Ione Skye recently, but I want to read some other fiction too as a break from King.
Here are my top Five King Books and also a list of books I love by other authors:
Wizard and Glass, The Stand, 11/22/63, Firestarter, It
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
High Fidelity by Nick Hornsby
The Lost World by Michael Crichton
Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie

The Dark Tower series, The Stand and some of King’s other books were inspired by The Lord of the Rings so I’d recommend those three volumes, as well as its prequel The Hobbit.
