Hey guys, can you suggest some books that are very old (I like that A LOT) that teach you something(like provide you with the mental food/stimulation) as well as entertainment. I don’t know how I should describe what I am looking for. Just suggest me some books fiction or not and I’ll read them! Thanks!

Best classic Sci Fi book – The first 3 dune books.
The best classic – Moby Dick
My Personal favorite book – Neuromancer.
Best Fantasy- The Lies of Locke Lamora
The best graphic novel – The Invisibles
The best non fiction – The Endurance by Lansing
Homegoing, by Yaa Gyasi
Between a few
The Sirens of Titan – Kurt Vonnegut ; probably my favorite sci-fi book of all time
Lonesome Dove – Larry McMurtry ; just an amazing epic spanning across the American west
The Pillars of the Earth – Ken Follett; I never thought a book about building a church during the Middle Ages would be so good but just trust
Bonus: Train Dreams – Denis Johnson; just an amazing perfect little story
A Prayer For Owen Meany, John Irving
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
1984, the best book ever written …
The Mind’s I – Douglas R Hofstadter & Daniel C Dennett
East of Eden – John Steinbeck
Of Human Bondage by W Somerset Maugham and East of Eden by Steinbeck are two of my favorites for incredible writing and humanity lessons. Stoner by John Williams is a five-star read all around. A Gentleman in Moscow is stunning and will stay with you forever.
Gravity‘s Rainbow, Ubik, Das Schloss
The Phantom Tollbooth.
Homegoing (someone mentioned it above.) Tale of a Time Being. Angle of Repose.
When you say “very old,” how old do you mean?
*Don Quixote* by Miguel de Cervantes is Instagram vs Reality from 1605. It is super readable and a lot of fun.
Jurassic Park, before the movie. Unfortunately, it didn’t age well. The technology in the book was ahead of its time.
The Tin Drum
The Far Pavilions
One of the best books I’ve ever read. Long, challenging, absolutely brilliant historical fiction. The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet by David Mitchell. A masterpiece in my opinion.
IT – Stephen King
The Stand – Stephen King
Shutter Island – Denis Lehane
Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf
I’m Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust
