Looking for books about the complicated nature of sibling relationships, particularly brothers.

I’m especially interested in stories where the older brother has been parentified in some way. I like the contrast between loving someone deeply, but also quietly and subtly resenting them.

Not strictly necessary, but also interested in explorations of how masculinity (self-identity, family roles, etc.) fits into this.

    1. Have you read Boy Alone: A Brother’s Memoir by Karl Taro Greenfeld?
Or The Halo Effect: A Brother’s Memoir, by Nick Ordonez ?

There’s Wonder, by R.J. Palacio with an older sister who has complicated feelings about her younger brother who lives with severe facial scarring.

    2. And oooh yeah I was trying to remember the name of this one that I read in school. Another thread reminded me. Flowers for Algernon – where the younger sister is parentified.
