Hi, I just saw this afternoon Soundtrack to a coup d'Etat, a documentary by Johan Grimonprez about the coup against Patrice Lumumba in Congo (it was just now distributed in theaters in my country).
I would love to read books to learn more about this history. I have studied history in college but the outlook on the Cold War was very European-centric so there's a lot I don't know about the intricacies of US policies and the consequences in Africa, Latin America… But also the role of jazz, and political assassinations. I read only recently Anything that moves on Vietnam and The Jakarta Method.
So I will take any recommendations to expand on the documentary, or any great read on this period. Thank you very much in advance!
