Looking for something light, not too dramatic with a satisfying ending. So no big racial injustice, sexism, wrongfully accused person being in prison, etc. I want it to be as far away from the real world issues as possible while still being a murder mystery.
Bonus points if the protagonist is not an extremely wealthy man and it is not set in a privileged little town where murders never happen.
I don’t know if this makes sense?
So searching for a murder mystery with vibes that are polar opposite to reddit front page.

Hmm, maybe try Death on the Caldera by Emily Paxman?
I just read The Murders in Great Diddling and it sounds like it would fit exactly what you’re looking for. I was trying to find something a little lighter but not fluff. It turns out there’s an award for “cozy mysteries” and this won it recently. I really liked it and have the authors second book with the same FMC on hold at the library.
