Hi all, I have been feeling very concerned and stressed about our environment/climate lately. I feel like the natural world I know and love is slipping through my fingers. I’ve been reading a lot of books lately along these lines for inspiration/to relate to something, and I would love to read some more. Here’s what I’ve read so far and really enjoyed:
- Finding the Mother Tree
- The Overstory
- Wild Dark Shore
- Migrations (I liked this one the least bc the main character was a bit frustrating)
- Abundance
I’m okay with fiction, fantasy, nonfiction, etc, though I do prefer some plot/character development to just straight fact delivery.
I have Robin Wall Kimmerer’s books on my to-read list, but would love to hear which ones in particular people recommend. Thanks for any recommendations!

You could try Once There Were Wolves. By the same author as Migrations and Wild Dark Shore.
How to Blow Up a Pipeline by Andreas Malm
The Monkey Wrench Gang is an older but good fiction book about environmental activism.
Ishmael by Daniel Quinn
Not The End Of The World by Hannah Ritchie. She wants to make you less stressed, but also does take climate change seriously
*What’s left* by Malcolm Harris
The Story of More by Hope Jahren was awesome.
I really enjoyed Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (the only one of hers I’ve read so far). It managed to be both realistic and encouraging, which is quite a feat given the situation.
