I have been reader my whole life but lately, my eyes get heavy and I get sleepy within couple of pages of picking up a book. Doesn't matter what time of day, how engaging the book is. I am not tired or sleepless. It feels like almost getting hypnotized. I can't read anything anymore. Has anyone experienced this? Is it some kind of condition?

Age?
I am 57 and there is nothing better to put me to sleep quickly than reading a book.
I do you too, if I’m laying down. If I have ample light and am sitting up, I’ll get more pages in.
Yes sadly as I’ve got older. If I was into a book I used to be able to read all night, now I can be on the last chapter of the most gripping book I’ve ever read and I’ll still fall asleep after 2 pages.
There’s also value in it though because sleep is hard for some adults, so knowing that I just need to read 2-3 pages and I’ll be out like a light is useful.
Build it back up. Start with one page or one section of a chapter – just read that amount for now and build up stamina. Your abilities to sustain reading for a longer time will bounce back.
Had your eyes checked lately?
I pretty much always get sleepy so I’ll just read a chapter or 2 a day. I stop when I get sleepy. Age 46.
This happens to me a lot, so I tend to read in my backyard with a nice beverage.
Two things that helped me (age 50):
1) Get better sleep. No phones or TV an hour before. Cut down late night caffeine.
2) Get glasses or readers. Eye strain is likely making your eyes tired and making you feel drowsy. Getting readers has made a huge difference.
Yeah. I used to be able to read an hour or two before bed but it has slowly whittle down to about half an hour of reading before I end up falling asleep.
