Book recommendations that explore topics like scrupulosity or any similar struggles faced by people who were raised in a religious environment

I've been watching the show Ramy and I really liked it and could relate to a lot of it. I also enjoyed the show Unorthodox. I’ve been looking for books that explore the tension between faith, doubt, and trying to live spiritually in a modern, secular world.

I'd like recommendations of books that explore similar topics – the guilt, fear, questioning the teachings and trying to make sense of it, scrupulosity, free will, etc… anything related to it, preferably something the helps you put yourself in the character's shoes and understand their perspective. It can be fiction or non-fiction, anything really.
