Hello 😄
I've realised that I seem to like books about people who move overseas so I'd like to read more but I'm struggling to find things that fit exactly what I'm looking for (although I'm sure there's thousands of them). I'm not looking for travel books per se but books where someone moves to a different country for an extended period and talks about their experiences.
I've always been interested in other cultures so I think part of my enjoyment is people spotting the differences and trying to integrate into another society. Specifically non-fiction books about people's experiences, not too fussed about the location.
A few examples of books I've read and enjoyed:
A Year of Living Danishly – Helen Russell (Denmark)
The Caliph's House – Tahir Shah (Morocco)
Without You, There is No US – Suki Kim (North Korea)
Carpet Ride to Khiva – Christopher Aslan Alexander (Uzbekistan)
Hopefully some of you have more experience reading this type of thing so can give me some good tips!
