Might not be exactly this but one of my favourite poetry books I read this year is Make Believe by Victoria Hutchins – blends memoir with prose poetry, resplendent with hope, positivity and optimism. Perhaps you will enjoy it too.

John Steinbeck has a fantastic talent for writing endearingly about Americans like they’re a studied civilization from the past. The Grapes of Wrath is my favorite representation of his style.

Hmmmmm… I actually think Becky Chambers could fit the bill. Try her novela, ‘To Be Taught If Fortunate’. It’s science fiction, but less focused on alien life, more focused on humanity and how we fit into the larger universe. It’s a feel good book, and a quick, short read.
