Im looking for something grimdark or something realistic, it can be from the era of early antiquity, probably up to the late renaissance and industrial revolution period wise. It doesn't have to contain sci fi elements or magic , it can be a historical retelling for all I know. It just has to be good and believable when it comes to characters psychology and behavior, have a somewhat believable world in terms of relations and politics. Here's what I trully enjoyed thus far.

    Joe Abercrombie :

    The First Law "trilogy"

    The Age of Madness "trilogy"

    Best Served Cold

    The Heroes

    Red Country

    Mark Lawrence :

The Broken Empire "series" this I absolutely loved , they literally have nuclear weapons in a medieval setting!

The Red Queen's war "also extremely good"

    Brian Lee Durfee :

    The Five Warrior Angels "Series"

    R. Scott Bakker

Prince of Nothing "series" – a trully exquisite one

    George R.R Martin

I've read absolutely everything he wrote , A Song of Ice and Fire is the only book or series besides "The Stand" by S. King and "The Name of the wind", which I reread 3x times.

I've read the "storm light archives" and "the Wheel of time" I enjoyed the Wheel of Time significantly more but its not scratching that itch I have for obscene grim dark stuff , I've also read "Malazan" but got tired and hung up on the last 2 books. I've also recently tried "The Last War" by Mike shackle , but didn't like it much. I'm also familiar with "The Witcher" books , read them years ago. They were too prim for me though. I'll cease my ramble, now that I think about it I may have read half the stuff ever written. Currently I'm finishing Richard K. Morgan "A Land Fit For heroes" , it's obscene enough, decent even , but it's not an exceptionally good trilogy. Do you have any recommendations?
