The first literary fiction book I read ended up being one of my favorite books of all time (If an Egyptian Cannot Speak English by Noor Naga), but I've had a very "hit and miss" time trying to venture farther into the genre. Which I think is just the genre. Anyways, I don't really know which books are considered lit fit classics. I want to make a list to read through of staple lit fic books + underrated ones. I'd love to hear which ones you think everyone should read *and* titles you love that aren't super popular. Thanks in advance =)

One thing I like to do is look for the list of winners and nominees to the novel prize. And then look for their most celebrated work and see if anything catches my eye. Only once this has failed me
