I want to foster the love of reading in my grandson. I have an idea of gifting him a box of books, on his 12th or 13th birthday, each with a handwritten note by me, saying, ‘read this when you…’ are sad, or mad, need a laugh, or all of the reasons to read the particular book.
But, I need help. What books did you love growing up, and why? Which books taught you something, made you think, made you angry, made you emotional? Changed your view of the world? And why?
Any and all suggestions are valued and appreciated. ❤️

Does he read now and at what level?
Do you want books he will read now, or as he grows, or that form the corpus of a great, lifelong library?
Will build off of that.
The BFG by Roald Dahl. It’s about friendship and overcoming prejudice.
