    3. The Green House by Mario Vargas Llosa . Eastern Amazonian Peru in the hey day of the rubber business. Extremely real, it almost smells.

    4. Of Love And Shadows by Isabel Allende.

      It’s not magical realism. It is based in the 70s when Chile’s president Allende was ousted and Pinochet began his authoritarian regime. Similar to Long Petal of the Sea, but more detailed in terms of the coup.
