Where I live it’s starting to feel like winter (and smell like it too). So I’m looking for something that is atmospheric, perfect for cold weather. I hate to use the word cozy because I can guess the recommendations that might entail and that’s not quite what I’m after.

Maybe comforting and reminds you of your childhood (but not necessarily a kid’s book though they’re acceptable) is a better description. Something where I can get a blanket and hot cocoa and enjoy.

Ones that meet this for me:

A Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg

Probably any book by Dickens, the Brontes, Austen, Du Maurier, etc.

Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine (and similar reads too)

    The Narnia series

The Children of Green Knowe by Lucy M. Boston

    84, Charing Cross Road

    The Princess Bride

    Black Beauty
