You know how you get near the end of the year and realise you still have absolutely nothing for prompts for the alphabet challenge you're doing? Yeah.
Looking for novellas (or shorter – novelettes or short stories count) that start with the letters X or Z. Having 'A' or 'The' before it is fine. Must be available in Australia on Kobo or the like (I don't use Amazon), author websites, et cetera.
Preferences: SFF or horror. Queerness. No outright romance as a main genre – romantic elements are fine, but I'd rather not have something that just focuses on it. YA isn't a deal-breaker but not my preference.
Huge bonus points if it's speculative fiction that fits one of the following prompts, which can also be longer than novella-length:
- Face Your Fears (features things people stereotypically find frightening, ie. spiders, snakes, heights, claustrophobic spaces, the dark, needles, blood)
- After The End Of The World (post-apocalyptic settings)
- Timeless (includes multiple timelines that are far apart in time, multiple decades or longer)
- Translated Works
