I got the inspiration from one of my law school classmates who, now that they are graduated, builds out “curriculums” for themselves on a topic of interest featuring 3-5 books. I want to do the same and have been really interested lately in land-use and ways we can build better, more connected, cities, communities, and homes. I’ve spent most of my life in the suburbs but have come to loathe the urban sprawl; I work downtown and hope to live there as well in the coming year, so issues facing those communities and ways to improve them are front of mind.
I’ve decided on two books for the “curriculum” which might better inform the recommender:
- “Palaces for the People,” Eric Klinenberg (2018)
- “Evicted” Matthew Desmond (2016)
Ideally I’d like to add 2-3 more books to the “curriculum” so I can get different perspectives. I hope this is enough to go on – thank you! 🙂
