I used to read a lot as a child, the typical stuff like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, etc. but I also focused a lot on historical fictions or biographical stuff, and I want to get back into being a regular reader. When I was in college I got so accustomed to reading books related to my major, but all of it is more along the lines of educational or political, which tends to get me down/just be more serious. I have to commute a lot for work now every week, and I figured that audiobooks would be a great step for me since outside of that I don’t have tons of free time.
For recommendations:
-I would like something not necessarily light-hearted, but more escapism would be nice.
-I feel like a lot of the recommended books I get on audible end up being kind of…for lack of a better word…corny?
Some of the other stuff I enjoy that maybe would give a bit of guidance:
– love YouTube video essays (philosophytube, wendigoon, Horses (the channel name), hhbomberguy, nexpo, Zachthebold, etc)
– Baldurs Gate
– mystery
– crime
– puzzles and escape rooms
– mythos and lore heavy stuff is good, but for some car rides I worry since I’ve fallen asleep to dark souls lore videos so much my brain is kinda trained to be instantly tired
I would love some suggestions, anything really, if the writing is good, I’ll try whatever!
Thanks!

Dungeon Crawler Carl! Great series if you are into fantasy. Overlaying story is also really intriguing, a deep critique of capitalism. The books are also funny and action packed, so the plot moves really quick to keep you engaged. Long series that is still being written so there is plenty to enjoy
