Hello, I’m tutoring a 7th grade student who is a little bit behind with his reading comprehension. He reads fluidly and knows most words he sees at his grade level but has difficulty answering questions about themes and deeper messages from the stories. Sometimes he misinterprets the events of the story too. I’ve been pulling short passages and using IXL so far but I thought it might be fun to pick out a whole book and create discussion questions for each chapter so that he can have some continuity, and hopefully get more invested in the characters and story. He likes spider man and video games and he plays baseball. Any suggestions?
