I'm looking for books that give you that comforting, hopeful, and cozy feeling. The kind you curl up with when the world feels a bit too loud, and you finish it feeling a little bit better about everything.
I'm not necessarily looking for something without conflict, but rather books where the kindness of characters or the warmth of the community shines through. The literary equivalent of a warm blanket and a cup of tea.

The road to tender hearts
The Hobbit
The lost bookshop evie woods!
Many people will suggest this, but anything by Becky Chambers is exactly a warm hug.
We’ll Prescribe You a Cat! The sequel recently came out, too. Also Dallergut Dream Department Store.
Legends and Lattes, by Travis Baldree
*The Jane Austen Society* by Natalie Jenner
the spellshop by sarah beth durst is just as good as everyone says!
Legends and Lattes was this for me. It’s about a retired adventurer starting a coffee shop and meeting all sorts of new people and befriending many of them.
And while unconventional, liches get stiches. It’s about a witch who gets turned into an undead abomination and has to learn to cope with being undead. She does this by making friends, both living and dead and well, also copious amounts of violence. Not sure what it says about me that cozy + blood gore and violence made me feel better about life… But her kindness and community does shine through.
Maybe glance at the synopsis first to make sure it’s your cup of tea, but I just finished Detective Aunty by Uzma Jalaluddin and it gave me a similar vibe.
Howl’s Moving Castle!
For me this was the exact feeling I got reading The House In the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune.
The house in a cerulean sea
The Spellshop.
I want to read this book over and over.
And I’m remembering 10,000 Doors of January feeling this way too.
