The funniest books y‘all would recommend? Like genuinely funny where you guys found yourselves always falling off your bed? And (no offence!) not white people funny please…

    1. You’re going to have to be more specific about what you mean by “white people funny”. There are an awful lot of funny books in the world, written in all sorts of contexts, and that’s a wee bit vague…

I thought **The Ascent of Rum Doodle** by W. E. Bowman was hilarious. Imagine a pack of stiff-upper-lip stereotypical Englishman explorers trying to scale a remote peak in the Himalayas…and being *really really bad at it*. They should not be left unsupervised on this fucking mountain

The hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams is quite funny, in my opinion. It’s very British, though, so I don’t know if it qualifies.

The Star Diaries by Stanislaw Lem (Polish) are also very funny in a more intellectual/parody kind of way.

Discworld series by Terry Pratchett (another Brit) is funny also.

Helen Oyeyemi – Peaces, A New New Me. Also Mr. Fox, Gingerbread, What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours. A lot of these books (especially the second one) don’t make much sense but they’re so funny. The characters are so strange and every sentence is better than the last. Reading these I feel like the author was laughing to herself while writing lmao

      Peaces:
“I should at least be able to describe his eyes, since I looked into them for quite a while. It was a highly enjoyable stare. Nuanced as fuck. Like the very best of arthouse cinema. However. What colour are Yuri’s eyes? Not a clue.”

Peaces is one of my all time favorite books. I want to buy as many copies of it as I can and give them out at weddings, birthdays, baby showers… Here’s a very serious and introspective novel about honeymoons and train rides… A New New Me is also just so ridiculous, I laughed through almost the whole book. I don’t really have any funny quotes from it because everything just builds up. Her more serious books are very poetic and I feel like her ability with poetic sincerity gives her some crazy skill with humor
